Hi all
Ive noticed latley that my boat seems to almost stall out while idle. It hasn't actually done it yet but was close today....have to give it a little gas. Also had a little trouble starting it toady which ive never had before since ive owned it.
Any suggestions?
Can i simply adjust the idle screw?
The carb. was completely replaced 2 years ago when i bought it...its a 1980 with a 140 horse mercruiser.

Thanks!

Have you tuned it up lately? Plugs, points, wires, timing, fuel filters?

doubt its an adjustment, however you could try. what is your idle speed?

being 1980, it should have points. have you set the dwell and timing this year? cap/rotor?

could be crud in your fuel system.

I would try adjustment first and check your fuel filter contents. Then check your specs (timing, dwell). If that didn't get it, you probably got some crud in the carb

I would try adjusting the idle screw before going through the other steps suggested .If after this,if it idles smooth and accelerates like it should you have solved your problem . JMHO
