Can someone tell me what kind of bellow I have? I noticed my exhaust is not exiting the prop area. Look at my bellows why is it so different ?

Studying your pics it looks like someone installed an exhaust tube ---backwards. An exhaust tube is an alternative to an exhaust bellows. It's supposed to be connected to the exhaust port on the gimbal plate at the transom. When the drive is down it mates up with the bell housing exhaust port and directs the exhaust through the out drive, just like the bellows.

If this is the issue I think you can just remove it from the bell housing and hose clamp it to the gimbal plate port.

Excellent !! It seem to be short about 1 inch I hope switching it around works, It does make the boat sound nice through...I just went outside your right it seen to be backwards and no no clap. Now I have to figure out what end goes where tomorrow. That should be easy though

Hmm, I may have to look into this. Seems like it would eliminate bellows replacement? But how do these work when trimming up and down? Seems to me like it would leak. What am I missing?

it will leak who cares, water is going to the same place but this keeps additional heat out of the outdrive. Only downside is engine noise which some like.

that tube only gets 1 clamp, the one on the transom side . it is made so when you have the drive trimmed down, the exhaust exits the prop, but when the trim is up, under way, the exhaust goes out behind the drive, allowing the exhaust a faster exit and gives the boat a nice sound.

MAKE CERTAIN YOU ONLY HAVE 1 CLAMP ON THAT TUBE.

i use these tubes almost exclusively, i have a box of new exhaust bellows that are just sitting there because the bellows kits come with the exhaust bellows, not the tube. the only issue is that the tubes are over 30 bucks but the time saved is sooo worth it.

i think the theory is when idling to much back pressure exists so they engine exhaust gas exits by the transom, underway the velocity of water going past propeller creates a vacuum and the engine exhaust through the propeller which is quieter. My previous boat has the exhaust at transom only and it was loud. Current boat doesn't and it is pretty quiet. Different strokes for different folks i like the quiet.

louder exhaust means less backpressure. less backpressure means more power output

chs marine service is right , The best part is I can remove or put it back and yes it does give a bad *** sound , I get allot of thumbs up at the lake when at full throttle.

That isn't even always true in a car...

In a boat with intact bellows, there is a vacuum sucking exhaust out the prop when running at speed. Negative backpressure. You lose that with an exhaust tube.
