Alpha 1 Gen 2 impeller question on part numbers

So I have read on here a few times that the correct part number for water pump impeller kit (without case and wear plate) is 47-43026Q06. However, in dealing with my local supplier he is adamant that this part will not work in the alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive. He even went so far as to call merc and this was his response:

"It?s no wonder and not your fault about this confusion. First off I called Mercury directly. I know that all of the Alpha One Gen 2 outdrives use the same kit (since they were first made), but I wanted to make sure I wasn?t going crazy. I talked to both the Mercruiser Outdrive and Mercury Outboards sections. Techs in both sections told me that the 47-43026Q06 kit has never and never will fit an Alpha One, Gen 2 outdrive."

The only kit listed is part number 817275A4 for the whole kit.

Just looking for some clarity and reassurance on the issue.

Thanks

Just an FYI.
The reason the parts people don't know this, is because in the dealers parts program, Merc in it's infinite wisdom only shows the kit used on the bigger outboards, and fails to show it on any of the Mercruiser Alpha I Gen II catalogs as even available. All the parts (gaskets, plate, impeller, etc.) are the same parts, just Mercruiser doesn't list it.

Sometimes I wonder how Mercruiser got to be as big as they are.

Also try googling the part number to see what it says it fits.

Fun Times,

the poster had the correct number, it's the dealers that couldn't figure it out and were telling him it wouldn't fit.
You probably should send that info to the other dealers so they understand.

I was hoping i just did.;):D:)

Mercruiser Dealers don't come here to look up parts, if they do they are a totally worthless dealer and shouldn't be allowed to be a Merc dealer.

Maybe so, but it's true. This site doesn't even have a way to look up OEM part numbers, and if they only sell aftermarket, then we are right back to my harsh statement. They shouldn't be a Mercruiser dealer.

Re: Alpha 1 Gen 2 impeller question on part numbers

Hello all,

Just want to confirm I fitted this impeller kit 47-43026Q06 to my Alpha Gen 2 sterndrive 2 weeks ago. Even says on the back of the blister pack "Mercury Mercruiser Alpha one Generation II (sn oD469859 and above)"

Kit contains everything you need even has setting tool for shaft seal and new oil fill hole washers.

Youtube has a couple of great walkthrough vids.. start with
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiCgHTrMKTw

This video gave me the confidence to do it myself, as I'm a newby.. but remember to take the shaft seal setting tool off after seating though as in the Mercury instructions with the kit. (Gets left on in the video)

Cheers.. Steve.

Not a bad video but, 2 CRITICAL mistakes....

1. Didn't use alignment pins when putting the housing back on..
2. Didn't pull the shaft up to set the face seal (on top of the housing) height correctly.

and yes, left the seal setting tool on the shaft...
