2007 Alpha 1 Gen 2. I am trying to split the lower unit from the leg, in order to service the water pump impeller.
All 6 bolts removed (2 each side and 1 at each end). Shifter is in forward gear. Prop clicks and rotates right, but not left. The cases are splitting near the prop but not at the front. It feels like it's hanging up on something. Am I missing something?

1 bolt in the front, 2 bolts on each side, 1 bolt UNDER THE TRIM TAB, only other thing I can think of is the upper driveshaft splines are twisted in the upper unit from a hard bottom strike.

As bt doctor stated, I think the bolt underneath the tab may be your issue. Have a look where the tab goes and there will be a bolt there also

As I said in my original post, all 6 bolts were out and the cases were starting to split apart near the prop. I just slid a flat screwdriver in as far forward as possible and then rocked the lower unit a bit. It dropped right out and it appears there is no damage anywhere. Must have just been the shaft seal hanging up a bit and I was just paranoid of breaking something.
Thanks anyway.
