Alpha 1 Gen II bell housing lube hose install?

OK this is a total pain, I'm in the middle of re-assembly after bearing and bellows change.

I went with the route of installing the u-joint bellow on the bell housing first since some people said it makes things a bit easier. I got the water hose hooked up and clamped, now the gear lube hose ...this thing is being a pain.

The barb on the bell housing is super close to the bellows, maybe less than 1/16". It's being hard enough to get the hose on there but then even if I do there's no way I'll be able to get a clamp on there. When I took it apart there was a plastic clip, it's reusable, has little teeth that mesh together. I just don't see how I'll be able to squeeze it in there.

Suggestions?

Thanks :)

Use a Tie wrap, make it large and place over the barbed end. Put some soap on the rubber hose and a pair of needle nose pliers and slid it on. Once on, position Tie wrap and tighten up

Got the hose on the barb, now fighting the clamp that came originally. You think a zip tie will put enough pressure not to leak?

From what I remember, bellows should be installed last, with U-joint first and exhast last. Bellows would seriously obstruct the installation of the lube line and water hose.

It wont leak, the hose should be tight enough on the barbed nipple. If the hose end is old and soft, cut a short piece of hose from the end to make a better connection. Zip tie will help the hose stay on the nipple and not get lose

Be super careful not to break that plastic barbed fitting. Yeah, it's plastic! It's a real pain to replace. Ask me how I know... There's an "E" clip on the inside of the transom. In some cases you might have to pull the engine to get to it!

I recommend not putting that hose on the bellhousing end until you have the hinge pins installed. that helps to ensure you don't break that plastic nipple as mentioned above. Some of those are brass though.
