Ok guys been a lil bit since i was on so here is the situation, i built a new engine for my chaparral 278 xlc,
i used a 79 - 350 block, flat top pistons S/S Crank, double timing gears, H/P oil pump, vortec heads, yes the real ones. ARP studs Air Gap intake, with a 4bbl performer Carb, bottom end was beefed up, i just cant remember what was used, ... now the engine is in and running,,, muhahahah to all the nah Sayers.. to be honest there where a few unexpected mods.. ie marine flex plate or flywheel was a 2 part seal, and the wouldn't fit the crank s/s crank so of to the machine shop it went.... had to fabricate a throttle bracket to bolt to air gap intake, old bracket wouldn't fit on carb, also installed a manual choke... i know i know im a cement head and didn't notice the carb was a manual, not automatic.. lol just means i got a new control on my console
.. Sooo i need to know if i can in stall a msd ignition? im asking cuz not sure how they would react to the neutral cut off switch?? Also after we built the engine the debate started.. you got it HP, many at the local marina are saying my alpha will melt or just implode with that kinda power, estimates range 375-450? i dunno but its more than the stock M/C-260.., so should i go to a bravo drive? any input would be great guys thanks
