Alpha 1 Kicker Motor installation

I have an Mercruiser Alpha 1 and would like to add a kicker motor to my boat. The boat is a '92 Celebrity 220 Cuddy, 350 Mag motor and Alpha 1 outdrive. Has anyone done such an upgrade? Want it to steer with the main steering, will likely route the fuel from the main tank, and would also like to have electric start, but thats not such an important issue. Boat has power steering and so not sure how or if this is possible... wouldn't want to have the main motor running just to steer the kicker, not such a good idea.
If anyone can direct me to a dealer to purchase the parts required, or I am also willing to build the parts if I could get some ideas.
Thanks

Re: Alpha 1 Kicker Motor installation

You need a kicker motor plate for it to work. If you have a swim platform, then it gets more complicated. As long as you have the transom mounted motor plate, you can use a kicker steering connector kit .
You can also make your own kit up with a peice of all thread and 2 heim joints and some way to attach the rod to the motor/ OD leg. only downside is needing to remove and install the rod every time you want to use the kicker due to trim issues.

Thanks for the info. Don't mind hooking/unhooking a connection rod, so that's not too big an issue. I do have a swim platform though (this is why I'm not too sure how this will work). Any ideas how I can make this happen?
