Historically, my 1983 Alpha 1 goes into reverse with a little grin and then a "clunk". This year while in my driveway, it would go into reverse with no noise, but when in the water, it will not go into reverse, going foreward is fine. Is it posible this is just a cable adjustment? If so, how hard is it to do and where is the adjustment made?

There have been quite a few posts on this recently - do a search. I even had trouble myself. Bottom line most of the time - you need a new cable more than likely. Here is a site that has how to adjust the cable: cable adjustment

You might not need a new cable yet,but you will someday.Replace it then.For now,get a good lubricant,WD-40,whatever you like.Spray it on those barrels and pins,and studs.Shift several times to work in.Still a problem,cable adjustment time.Still a problem,cable replacement time.<br />DHP
