Alpha 1 Prop Shaft scraping noise

I just replaced the prop on my 2005 alpha 1 gen 2. I noticed that when I turned the prop by hand there was a slight scraping noise. If I pull on the prop when turning the noise goes away, there is about 1/8 inch of play (forward/backward) in the prop shaft. I removed the propeller and turned the shaft and the noise is still there. If I put the outdrive all the way down and spin the shaft there is no noise. Any thoughts?

If the drive is trimed all the way up were your NOT supposed to run the motor there can be enough movemet in the shift cable to make the clutch dogs touch

When changeing the prop be shore to get the thrust washer off the front of the old prop and on to the new one

I did not run the motor, I was just turning it by hand.

Thanks,

Thrust washer is in place correctly. I can hear the noise with the prop off just turning the shaft by hand.

Thanks,
