I have been trying to locate a slow leak on my alpha 1 outdrive. (actually alpha 1 lower MC 1 upper). I could not find the leak with the upper and lower connected so I split them and did another pressure test on the lower. I found that the shift shaft seal leaks a lot if I push on the top of the shaft sideways just a little bit. I dont know if this is a "fair" test ie. would the shaft get any sideways movement in normal use? I have tried turning the shaft back and forth and did not see bubbles. This leak takes a couple of hours to bleed off 15 lbs. if left alone.
Anyone know if I have found the leak with this method?
