I pulled the outdrive off my Bayliner for the first time to inspect the norm. When I removed the outdrive the trim cylinders moved on their own to the position seen in the picture. What caused this and what is the correct way to fix it? As far as I can tell the outdrive has never been off before. If it matters its a 98 Mercruiser 5.7l Gen II with low hours. Thanks in advance!

Push on the one, and the other will move out to match it.

That's no big deal, you can push one in and the other will come out! I just pulled my drive today and hooked the trim cylinders to my tow ring with bent coathangars. That way they won't hang down and touch the ground.

I tried to pull on the short cylinder but it wouldn't move. I'll try pushing on the longer cylinder to even them out. Thanks for the help! I thought something was was wrong. Sorry still new to boat mechanics:cool:
