Good morning everyone.

Been awhile since posting here. Around the start of this year I noticed the trim system was sticking. Noticed it first when trying to lower the drive in the storage unit...press the down button and hear nothing but a click. Cycle the switch a couple of times and it starts working normally. Sounds to me like a solenoid is sticking, can you guys give me some suggestions on where to start?

Thanks!

I think that you are on the right track. I would replace the solenoid on the pump. I believe that the trim pump use the same one as the solenoid on the engine.

On your trim pump there will be 2 solenoids . . one for 'up' and one for 'down'. You can Google the parts diagram of your pump for an illustration.

+1. wiring (usually) = blue (sky)= up.. green (grass)= down.. solenoid switches are cheap.. i'd direct jump a wire from your battery to your trim motor testing both up and down to rule out a faulty pump motor..... also check your existing connections to your solenoid switches, often they may have wiggled loose..

I just want to mention something that happened to me when I was a newbie.
My trim got stuck down when I was retrieving my boat. Eventually it started working so I was OK.
But, for those less experienced, you can temporarily just pop the "E" clips off the rams and manually tie up the drive with rope so you don't drag your drive on the ground.

Thanks, guys. I'll look for them on the pump when I get the chance.

To be clear, it's worked fine 99% of the time this season. Every couple of weeks I have to cycle the switch a few times to get the drive to go down, and its something I want to fix before it fails completely. Each time, I can hear a distinctive click towards the back of the boat.
