Anybody know the length from the end cap of the trim ram to the rear anchor pin when an Alpha 1 is up/out fully? (the place it stops when the limit switch should kick in)

From center of the pins I think 21 3/4" rings a bell for alpha ones.
If I'm wrong someone will some tell us.

Re: Alpha full out measurement?

BMDODGE - thanks I've seen that but that is for setting the limit switch - 6-1/2" can not be full out. No way. It's got to be a lot higher than that. That may be closer to 25% - 30% of the limit travel.

I disabled my limit switches so that measurement doesn't help me for setting the senders which is what I am trying to do.

seems as if mine stops when the trim cylinder is fully extended...all the way out - the limit switch is just when you trim up,which should not be more then the 6.5 inches. if the limit switch isn't hooked up you should be able to use your trim-up switch to go the whole travel. correct me if i'm wrong , i'm new to the boat area. bruce

I mean the place it stops and to go any further you need to use the trailer switch. trimmed all the way up/out has got to be a lot more than just 6" that's hardly any travel at all from the full in/down position.

I would look at it as though there were a trim movement and a tilt movement. The full trim would be that 6-6 1/2" length your talking about. Full tilt would be all the way out, as used for trailering. Not sure why it matters what the actual measurement is. Tilt it out till it stops and measure it . No ?? Then you could set your sender to stop just short of that point.

Re: Alpha full out measurement?

I have my limit switches disabled. I need to set my senders so my gauges read full up/out when the drives are trimmed out/up to the max safe operating range. The drives have to go up beyond just 6-1/2 inches. That is very little upward movement from the full down/in position. Full down alone is like 3 inches or so - so full up/out can't be just 3" from full in/down.

OK - I found it - the trim up to 21- 3/4 and you use the trailer switch from then on. Richard, fka **** had it right :D

Re: Alpha full out measurement?

Where did you find the info? I'll probably be troubleshooting my trim/tilt next year. To move the drive up, I have to push both upper switches. I haven't even looked in my Clymer manual on the trim stuff yet, too busy trying to get rid of the overheating. And now running out of warm weather for testing. :(

Steve

Bruce,

I realized that too. I need to measure and confirm. 6.5 seems like hardly any trim at all.
