<br /><br />If that is what you are talking about being bent, then that can cause all sorts of problems. It is supposed to be straight.<br /><br />They get bent when people try and remove the outdrive with the gear shift in something other than forward. On my dad's boat we discovered the shaft to be bent - which was why it stalled when going into reverse. We replaced the shift cable, adjusted it, etc, and nothing worked. What happens is that when everything is assembled, and you try and put the unit in gear, THEN it binds and causes the shift interupt to activate and stay activated. When we would take the lower unit off, everything worked smoothly. <br /><br />Anyway, long story short, (too late I know!
