alpha one 1:98 TO 2:00 interchange

found what is listed as an alpha one 2:00 gear ratio, and I would like to replace a 1:98, on a 3.0 litre. is this a doable swap. if the new is a generation 2 is it still possible to intermix the drive to origional bell housing?

Series1 ,R,MR, Alpha interchange with each other
Alpha GEN II`s only interchange with Allpha GEN II`s

Ayuh,... And, the 1.98, vs. the 2.0, is for all practical reasons the Same ratio...
