i have a baja 180 islander with a 4.3 merc lxh gen + and an alpha one gen 2 drive, i have to replace the gimbal bearing and i am wondering if i can just break the shaft apart to line everything up or do i need the tool

If you want it completed right, you need the alignment tool.

well i need a manual for gen 2 or a link to one would be awsome also i am getting the majority of people telling me i need the line up shaft which sucks cause i cant find it anywheres for under 100 bucks

$50 is pretty common on ebay. If that still isn't good enough, in the manual that bondo posted above for you, you can get the dimensions for the tool and have one made locally. Doubt it will be any cheaper though.
