alpha one gen two shift shaft install after drive has been moved.

is there a way to install shift shaft after prop shaft has moved? I was changing shift shaft seal and drive shaft got moved, cant get to get it to go in forward or reverse. shift shaft is ingaging splines.

Meaning you have just the lower on the bench and you were just changing the shift shaft seal?

If the shift rod is not moving and your sure you installed it correctly 2 things can happen.
You did not install it correctly and your not in the "C" selector , remove and reinsert
You pulled the "C" selector off its base and will need to disassemble the lower.
You will need to tild the lower unit so that the prop shaft is facing up, this should move the selector to fwd gear , now try to insert the shift shaft to get it to shift.
