Re: Alpha One Impellor
Not really, drain the drive of lube. Remove the trim tab. [Zinc] There are 5 nuts, and 1 allen screw- located under the zinc. Loosen all the nuts. Then take off the front top one and the 2 underneath. The 2 in the center on top loosen equally, the bottom should slowly come down. Loosen the small screws at the top of the plastic housing. The impeller should be stuck in the top of the housing. If its worn, cracked or not pliable it should be replaced. I usually change it anyway, unless it looks really new. Turn the prop shaft counter-clock wise and make sure its in foreward gear. The only things that need to line up are the shaft splines, and the shift shaft. Put some 24c on the splines, not on top.Replace the small 'O' ring that fits between the cases. You will probably have to turn the prop shaft to engage the splines [counterclockwise] The shift shaft is a hex, you have to make sure that the drive is in forward. Don't use any force that is unusual or you will crush the the shift shaft engager. You should be able to put the two cases together without tightening any nuts. When that is achieved, lower it a little, and you can replace the center top nuts. You have a manual so you should get it. Don't force it to go together by any mechanical means!Make sure the helm conrtol is in forward from the start of this procedure! j
