Hi,

Mercruiser, MCM 140, Serial number 5568367 - Alpha One No. OB656591.

Just got the bellows and bell housing assembly all fitted nicely and am now ready to install the shift cable core wire and kit....

I have a new shift cable kit from Quicksilver, the problem is there is one small plastic component in the kit that was not on the cable I removed (all other parts are Identical), and there is no reference to it in the OEM manual #6 or on the paper instructions received in the kit. It dies not appear to "fit" onto anything. What is it and where does it go? Thanks in advance for the help.

That is like a grommet for the transom where the cable will pass thru so it's protected

Oh roit Eric. Damn, I Wish I would have found that out before I got the engine back in and aligned her all up. I cant get to it now. Presumably there is no big issue if I leave the old one (dont really want to pull it all off again just for that)!

I have looked through my manual again and still cant find any reference to changing this out. Where have I missed it?
