Alpha One ourdrive not going down...

And now for the outdrive. I have a 91 chaparral 1800 sl w/ merc 3.0lx alpha one outdrive. When I looked at and bought the boat last week the outdrive was going up and down no problem. When i first put it in the water the outdrive seemed to go down slow. When I took it out of the water a couple hours later, it came up fine all the way and i backed it down a smidge. Now it wont go down and is making a slightly higher pitched noise them when it goes up. The fluid is also looking like milk. From what I have been reading, it could be bad seals letting air or water in. What can i do to change the fluid and bleed the system without taking the outdrive apart or rebuilding it? As always, any and all insight answers comments or whatever you will is welcomed. Thanks guys.

Remove the resovoir, clean the screens. To get all the water out, you'll need to take the cylinders apart!

Prop up the o/d so it doesn't drop and pull the bolts out that hold the cylinders onand try it trailer button and the trim up and down to see if the drive is in a possible bind or the pressure to the cylinders aren't gettin enough power to push and pull the o/d up and down, could also be the limits are shot. Look in the stickies(adults only) at the top of the forum for some troubleshooting techniques allot of good info up there. Once again good luck.
