Alpha one question

I removed my ski platform and was close to my drive and it seems that when you turn the drive it has alittle play in it.It has a frame that holds the the drive and has a bearing on each side and one on the top.They all have a zerk fitting and the side ones have wires on the back,one of the side bearings is loose.What is it and is it tough or expensive to fix.It is a 1987 mercruiser engine(300 Tempest)and a Alpha One drive

Hopefully just loose, but the thing with the wires is the sending unit for the trim. Remove the two phillips screws holding it in place, but mark the setting with a pencil first. There is a bolt under it, large Torx head. That's the pivot, remove it and inspect away. You should be able to determine the problem from there.

Hopefully it's not Too Serious,<br />But, If it's any deeper than the Plastic Cover on the sender,<br />It's Not Really a job for the Inexperinced.......

Thanks for the info,I will check it out tomorrow,I never have had the boat in the water so who knows what else i will find.I was a Ford mechanic for about 12yrs so I am good at this stuff but this is not a Ford and I am learning as I go.Thanks again.

It Could be Any of several Issues....<br />Best thing to do is,<br />Go to the top of this page,+ Click on "Manuals"....<br />Merc.s Aren't That bad, Although you need a few Tools........<br />Just Read the Book, Then We All know What we're talking about.......<br />Good Luck..........
