Ok, experts. Got a question for ya. I was on a fishing web site and some fellas were talking about alpha ones using fluid.... Is this possible and if so how and why? I cant imagine that it is, I view it as basically a differential and the fluid should not be "USED" anywhere.......

T

When a drive "uses" oil and its not milky, its leaking out the upper seals into the bellows. When you pull the drive have a bucket and rags under the boat to collect gearoil that spills out.

Dealers should go to school, or talk to their mechanics every once in awhile. Several have told me, "yea, those Alphas use a little oil."

I do not bother with a reply, simply walk the other way.

Like the dealer who told me my 76 Mercruiser was "too old to get parts for."

How do these people stay in business?
