I own a Regal 3060 with twin 5.0 MPIs with Alphas.
I noticed a little noise after docking. I had come in on low tide & was running the engines in neutral to chase out a little mud I had kicked up. The port drive was making a little noise. Thought maybe I had left it trimmed up. The noise I am talking about is the one you will hear if you trim your drives up which I am assuming is coming from the u-joints. The port drive was all way down & was making this noise as if it were trimed up. Starboard drive was quiet unless I trimed it up. I shut it down for about 30 min started back up & the noise was gone. The boat has about 47 hrs on it. Just had the alignment checked 20 hrs ago. I talked to the service manager at my marina & he gave me that run it til it brakes story. I have not hit anything & have not run a ground. boat is a 2003. I know if you start hearing new noises they are usualy accompanied new problems. Maybe I should wear ear plugs. Any ideas on what to look for would be great.
Thanks
Paul

Re: Alpha1 question

If there is a way to do it ,you should check the drive fluid level. It rises and aerates while in use and refills the lower when at rest.Trim all the way up and see if your vent plug comes out of the water. If it does, take it off and try to put some gear oil in,see how much it takes. If it does not come out of the water put a garbage pail on the pulpit and fill er up with water. That should raise the stern enough to try.
