I have a mercruiser 3.7 liter 470 motor has 170hp 4 cylinder. I want to get rid of the voltage regulator and go to an altenaor.
Does anybody have the measurements for the brackets. Mine has power steering i work in a machine shop. I can have the brackets made. but i need the measure ments for the hole locations and adjustment screen and how long and wide brackets need to be. can anyone help thanks

I have the same engine, minus the power steering. Go to Breezeworks, they have kits ready to go for power steering and not, powder coated and everything. I did it last year and it was the best piece of mind I have spent on the boat to date. The voltage regulators are so unpredictable and dangerous. Mine burned up when we were in the middle of tubing with 5 young kids on board! No more worries. Voltage meter stays a constant 14 volts. The kits are bolt-on and you're set.

There are some nice designs out there. I like the orange) one on e-bay, or do a search on google and look for "images" and with access to a machine shop you can probably make something that will work fine. You would probably want to take measurements off of the front waterpump cover for the main bracket and you can probably modify a junkyard arm to fit the top of the alternator. Good luck, and come back with some photos when you get it done.

I have an extra one. Dont remember why i bought it but do remember looking at my motor and going wtf, i already have one. Looks like part # WAGMB-1 or MB-1. Lists for 130$. I'll let it go for 75$ and you pay shipping. I do recall you may need a different pulley with this so make sure its what you need.

I have the 470 also, burned up the voltage regulator last year, smoking and smelling. Replaced with the bolt on one, so nice clean and charges up nicely too! They are on ebay also.
