Hello all,

What a great site! I have been lurking here for a couple of weeks and have found a lot of useful information by searching this forum while I work on this old motor, but I can't find anything on this topic so I thought I would post up.

We recently swapped motors and during the process some hydraulic fluid was lost.

I have a service manual, but the bleeding procedure involves removing the cylinders from the motor. I would be willing to bet that one of the experts on here has come up with a better way to do this.

Anyone have some advice?

If not, thanks anyways for all information I have already used off of here.

Chris, If you have the old "two trim cylinders, pump mounted in boat" system, I do not know of any alternate procedure to bleed them. It only takes a couple of minutes to bleed the proper way. Unbolt the trim cylinders pull them off and turn them upside down and put on upper mount. The up bleed holes will be pointing up, held by the hoses.

Thanks for answering Chris.

I'll give it a try.
