For tradeshows, we have a PowerPoint slideshow with embedded videos that we play in a loop on a DVD player. Does anyone know of a alternative to the bulky DVD player?

I don't want to leave my laptop on the table so that's not an alternative. There are some 19" LCD TV's that have a USB port but that's for either diagnostics or .jpeg viewing so that won't work either. Just don't want to carry around any more materials than necesary.

Have you thought of a digital picture frame? They make those in sizes up to 18" now, and some have the capabilities to play videos or video-type presentations in divx format, which is purely electronic. I have a small one (7" screen) that I use as a personal movie viewer. It has the codecs to play divx h264 video. I can convert DVD movies to this format using software that is available from DivX, compress them to my satisfaction (usually around a 700 MB file for a two hour movie) and store them on a flash drive or SD card. I can carry around six movies on a 4 GB SD chip, and its all about the size of a pocketbook.

If it already on a DVD, there are plenty of 19" flat screen TV's out there with built in DVD players.
There are also ton's of TV's with HDMI in puts on them if your laptop has and out put for it. Then you can get a 9 or 12 foot HDMI cable and put the laptop under the table.
You can go really high tech beyond that, Wireless and such, Just costs money...

Don't know why I didn't think of a TV/DVD combination. The whole idea is to eliminate the need for separate components and the remotes and cables that go with them. I've had to pick up a disposable DVD player several times at Radio Shack so it's not a question of the size of the player.

I like the idea of converting to another file format. Thinking about it, it has to be converted to be on the DVD anyway. However, the cost of the digital picture frames in a decent size with that processing capability is really getting up there.

I just saw a 19" TV/DVD combo at Target for only $250 that will do the job just fine.

Thanks for the ideas. Now to find a hard sided case suitable for airport luggage handlers!

They are pricey, but take a look at Pelican cases...they are about the best around for protecting valuables from abuse.

I used one for a camera case and accidentally left it sitting on top of my car. I drove off and it stayed put until I caught a red light. It flew off the car and skidded and tumbled into the intersection. Aside from a few scratches on the outside of case, everything was fine.

I also used same case to wade my camera out to a diving boat where it was basically floating in salt water and again, it performed flawlessly.
