Alternator Help.

Looking for an alternator replacement for my 1993 four wins horizon with the OMC 5.8 litre efi motor. I have a depth finder fish finder 4 head radio and normal electricals. I do not want to use a mando alternator more ac delco. Problem is I am not exactly sure what one to buy. I think I want the 65 amp but the fitment and wire combination is what im confused by. I believe it to be a one wire meaning a positive and a ground wire but not sure even on that. If anyone has this knowledge and could share me a link of the one I need to buy I would be most greatful. Welcome aboard

Boats dont use one wire alternators for a rwason. Get a delco or denso or mando with a separate excite wire

Personally, i would take your current alternator to your local alternator/starter repair shop

I would take it to my local alternator rebuild shop but that's where I bought a replacement first and it died. Then went back and he turned a 3 wire into a two wire and it really isn't pushing the amps needed to run the efi let alone turning on anything else. So im done with repairing and will go new. What I believed happened is the boat was getting extremely hot when ran for any decent amount of time. So hot that it would evaporate the fuel out of the lines and would have to be started with throttle given. This year I have tore into it and discovered the impellar had 3 fins broken and were somewhere in the system those got back flushed and luckily came back out so that has been replaced and for good measure the thermostat has also been replaced. Hopefully that will deal with the heat issue and as any mechanic can tell you heat is a killer of alternators. Sorry I have read many forums and mando has one of the worst names for quality in the market.

what ever you do, dont buy a one-wire alternator
