Not unless it was fitted as an "extra"
The BRP on line parts lists for accessories only go back to 1972 but there was a charging kit for 1972 models, at least to fit electric start models, Part no 0383392 but it is not actually listed as fitting 1971 models ... Its obsolete now anyway
quite complex by modern standards comprising a belt driven generator with all the associated mountings and regulator. It would be obvious if its already fitted.

No . The chances of finding one are probably slim..

Its bad for your battery though not to recharge it after use.

Options are a multistage battery charger if you have an electricity supply where you keep your boat.

Take the battery off the boat for recharging.

A solar panel

fatboy, the charging system for your motor goes way back to 1957, with variations. It was used on all 40hp electric shift motors through 1970. So they are out there in used form. It is a belt driven DC Generator, not an Alternator. The main ingredients are the generator, belt, mounting bracket and voltage regulator. Before you proceed, you need to decide how much it is worth to you to have it. The voltage regulator costs <> $100 if you have to purchase a new one. So.....if you want it badly enough it can be found.
