I have a 1985 mercruiser(260) that I believe had a mando alternator originally. Someone who owned the boat before me put an automotive Delco Remy into it. I bought a one wire 63 amp Delco marine alternator for it. Can I just not hook up the excitor wire and the other wire? that plugged into the old alternator? And just hook up the one main battery wire and the ground? And if so, will I still be able to read voltage on my dash volt meter?
