I was thinking about geting a Tiny Tach for the new 30 hp , 3 cyl Nissan (4 stroke). The only time I would really want the tach feature is for trouble shooting props early in it's life. From then on , I think the hour meter feature would be more important. My thought process was to get a Tiny Tach and just leave it under the cover of my OB ( since I really don't need to read it constantly.) I was ready to buy then noticed that the Tiny tach brand has a 5 year NON_REPLACEABLE battery. Since I'm keeping the boat 10+ years, it seems dumb to have to toss the $50 instrument in the trash and restart my hours at Zero again.

Any other inexpensive alternitives in a Tach /Hour meter combo out there?

(p.s. As long as i'm wishing , I would actually preffer one that worked on motors of 1-3 cyl so that i could use it to troubleshoot the occasional 5-8 hp engine in my collection too.)

Seems like most of them comparable to Tiny Tach all have non replaceable batteries.
