Hi folks, need your help. First time out in the water and I hit a log. Bent one blade and knocked a small edge out of another. Should I have this one repaired or just get a new alum one?
It is a 14" x 23 pitch. I don't want to get anything different than stock.

One other question, the existing prop does not have splines in the prop, there is a brass hub that goes inside the prop and has a flange that the lock tab fits in which engages the hub to prop. I have not seen any props that look like this in the various catalogs?
It is a 2003 glastron with 4.3L mercruiser.

Thanks for any help. paul

I would call around and see how much a repair would be. I dinged all three blades on my stainless and had a local guy here in NC fix it for $75. Although, there's a bit of a price difference between buying a new stainless and fixing the old one.
While that one was being fixed, I bought an aluminum prop, just as a back up for $60 on Ebay. My vote would be: Repair the old one and buy another, as a backup.

Generally much cheaper to fix a prop.Don't know the specifics on your prop hub just that some manufacturers build props with all the same body and sell adapters to fit the applications.

Sounds like the standard Flow-Torq hub. I think fixing the alum is not worth it. Get an estimate, and go from there.

I agree with John S

You can get a new more reliable prop on here 14 X 23 for around a hundred bucks.

Dependign how bad your prop was damaged it may not be worth fixing an aluminum. It is possible that its badly out of balance and you wouldnt want to run that even after its fixed as your main primary prop. I wouldnt.

Yep sounds like a flow tourque hub....My stock Mercury prop had that same type of hub. The hub pulls out and has the splines that fits into the props hub.
