How about a pic of the rubrail type. If its what I'm thinking, it should have a spot where it ends, usually at the stern, you take that cap off and peel it out. Then proceed to tighten, or bolt through the hull. Most have screws under the aluminum rail from when the boat was assembled also. I's wonder why the hull is shaking in the first place. Is the hull solid? or are there soft spots in the floor/transom?

the rub rail (now that I know term) is alum channel with rubber insert . the hull is 1978 and for most part floor seams solid does have one soft area near the rear of boat. the shaking seems to be in dash/ cuddy wall area and the floor seems to be solid in that area I think its mostly an issue of having to re-secure the cuddy wall and insure deck is attached

Some rubber inserts have a loose fit and some are tight. If you can move the rubber up and down, it will slide right out and back in. A tight insert requires more care to remove without tearing, Think gentle persuasion.

Use a heat gun to warm it up and it should soften up nicely and allow you to get it out.
