Hey folks

I came across a tinny today that was too good to let go, all electronics, carpeted floor made of aluminium, plenty of storage, great trailer all for $1500 (australian)

My only problem is, the transom has been converted to fit a long shaft motor but I want to put my short shaft on. Before I take at it with a grinder, I wanted to get some opinions on what needs doing.

As you can see, none of the existing welded joins suit the height I need, and if I cut along the hight I need I dont think the hollow aluminium will have the strength I need. Do I have any options other than taking it down to a welder? as I do not have a tig welder.

Thanks for looking

Cut it down and make sure you have the wood to support the motor.

The proper measurement is vertical straight down and NOT against the hull.

You could carefully cut to the proper 20" height and if you are creative bend the excess metal over the cut and seal it up with 3m 5200 along the seam.

of course, I didn't take the angle into account. thanks. SO it looks like I can cut it to the original 15" where it was before the extension was welded on.
Do you mind clearing up what you meant by having the wood to support the motor?
