I have a smoker craft 19ft aluminum hull.
wood floor. I took the carpet out and was going to paint the floor. The wood is not rotted but it’s not smooth. Could I go over the wood with fiber glass to smooth it out.
Would the resin or fiber glass react with the aluminum.
Thanks

plywood that has started to check, has gotten wet and is starting to fail. However, yes it would work fine. But sanding and then just using epoxy resin would work too. Follow with your paint

question for you, when you removed the carpet, is the wood fastened to the hull with screws or rivets? my floor is soft in my boat and i need to replace it, same size of boat as yours so wondering how much extra work i am looking at if rivets. thanks

If you have the wood out, use it as a template while it is still in correct shape, Simple to cut new wood CDX is fine, do not use treated. Glass the new wood to have a long living floor. Why use ugly wood. Replacing it is a small effort at this point.
