Re: aluminum boat and steel wool ?
Hello,<br />I work with aluminum all the time. I find that to get a real good shine out of raw aluminum I first take 3M scotch brite to the surface. ( I usually use the white but if you have a lot of build up you can use the green or maroon ) Then I clean the surface with a light detergent. Let it dry then take some Weenol and a buffer wheel and the shine just comes right out. This process will take a bit of work and you might want to seal the aluminum afterwards to prevent any future build up. What you would use on a boat to seal the aluminum I don't know. At work I use clear chromate on most aluminum or nickel acetate on anodized aluminum but I am pretty sure that won't work for your application.
