Aluminum Boat Transom Corner Brackets in Canada?

Hello,

New here.

I am working on restoring the aluminum boat we have and I need some 'transom corners' from what I understand they are called. Hopefully that's not the wrong term.

I would like to find ones just like this inclusive of the handles - easier to tie ropes for affixing to my dock.

Does anyone know where I'd get these in Canada? Googling comes up with nearly nothing and judging from the forum replies here I should scour E-bay (done - but not sure if i'm using the correct terminology)

Additional quick question - is it recommended to try and repaint this, or just strip all the paint off and leave it off?

Thats a tough one to find.

The make of boat may help.

But people are always looking for those, and come up empty handed.
The ones with the handles are even harder to find.

Curious, whats wrong with the ones you have?

I think the is a member ( Kitchener area ) of the ------maple leaf chapter-------Outboard motor club that casts stuff like that.-----Actually for myself I would use a bit of time / West System epoxy / carbon fiber / fiberglass / old outboard cover material.----Make my own custom corners.

I would reuse the ones you have but if your looking for new I would stop by your local metal fabrication shop. They don't look like they would be hard to reproduce. You take a steel brush or wheel then some steel wool followed by metal polish or compound you can make this look better then new...

just looked at your picture and now I see what you mean. The port side handle is broken. I would take it off to a fabrication shop. They could weld a new handle in no time and it would not even be that expensive.

Could also get some thick aluminum and either cut it yourself and file and sand it like you want, or have a machine shop make it. Not very hard to make if you have the material and know how... JMHO

I have an old alumacraft that was missing the handles, scanned craigs in 4 states for darn near a year before I found a donor boat.

Scott Danforth 's hit a very good point. Most any aluminum welder could easily fix that issue. And if you were really ambitious, you could even make a handle part to be welded on.

Most welders would razor wheel out the handle, round off with a router using tool wax, weld in place and blend with a flap wheel, about 30 to 45 minutes total
