Are aluminum boats OK in salt water? I'd like to get an aluminum boat for both fresh and salt water and am interested in opinions/experiences.

I've got a 1959 Crestliner runabout that's been used in salt water for 43 years.

No serious corrosion or leaks (hundreds of rivets, too).

Key is to wash it down after every salt encounter.

There are only problems with metal boats in saltwater when they are left in the water and subjected to galvanic corrosion and electrolisis through improper zincification, dissimliar metals contacting water and improper electrical grounding. A boat removed from saltwater after each use, need only be washed down to reduce the corrosive effect of salt on the connectors and finish of the boat. Likewise your engine cooling system should be flushed after each use to extend the life of your motor.
