Hi All,

First off I wanted to say this site is great! I enjoy reading all of the rebuild/resto threads, and am anxious to start my own.

A little background ? I live in the northeast, and have been boating all of my life. I have always owned fiberglass boats ? my most recent being a grady white tournament, all of my boating/fishing is done in salt water.

The next boat I plan on purchasing will be kept in a slip (also salt water). I would really like to purchase a tinny, rehab/reconfigure to my liking. My question is ? is it possible to keep an aluminum boat in salt water for the season without doing major damage ? corrosion, etc, and If so, what special precautionary measures need to be taken?

I get the idea with zincs, I was just wondering if anyone had any real world experience, or advice, on how to minimize damage. Sorry if this is a newbie question - I just wanted to get some advice from the experts. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I have a StarCraft tinnie that spent her whole life (since65) at the NC coast at Oak Island with no ill effects except fot the crome which was toast but hey 47 years and she will be spending summers down there now as soon as I am done with the restore. Go for it!
