Has anyone ever had to replace their Aluminum Cross Channel under the deck of their pontoon boat? I have a couple I need to replace and I can't seem to find any like what I have on mine. Does Anyone know of a source?

Thanks

I don't know where you would get them but you should first try the manufacturer.

I, and I'm sure many others here, am curious why you would need to replace them.

Re: Aluminum Cross Channel replacement

I was given this pontoon boat in a halfway rebuilt state. The previous owner was attempting to convert the decking to aluminum...so it was decked about 3/4 of the way. As I stripped the alum decking off of the boat I saw where he had used some piece together cross channel. I didn't have that warm and fuzzy feeling about it, so I am trying to get the right stuff to put it back together. This is why I was asking about where to get cross channel.

Thanks:

Ok. You have satisfied my curiosity.

Again, I would first try the manufacturer. If not you might go to a metals distributor. A local welding shop should also be able to get something that would work. Of course, it doesn't have to look like the others, as long as it can support the weight.

Good luck and report back your findings.

Is there any chance you can send a picture of what you have along with the size? I know a man very close to me who has over 1000 ft of "Z" bar that was the pefect replacement I used on my pontoon. I relocated the transom approx. 27 inches & I used what this guy had. It is extruded & was twice as strong as what was on the pontoon to start with. He will cut it in whatever lengths you want & can ship it UPS if it isn't over 8 ft long. His is 3/16 inches thick so it's plenty strong. I will be glad to senf you his contact info if you can use what he has. He charges $50.00 for 21 ft lengths & like I said, he will cut it at no extra charge.

I’m having the same issue. Found this thread looking for a solution. Mine are completely corroded and look to have gotten that way from time/sitting in saltwater. It looks as though a previous owner recognized the aluminum corrosion and added some steel L bars above them for reinforcement...which made the aluminum corrode faster and entirely. Any ideas would be appreciated.
