i got white oak , 2 pieces that i need to glue together or epoxy together? im confused ive searched and searched but im confused.. in the pics you see the old wood, it bolts into the transom and to those aqueduct braces

anyways i got it all taken apart, i got the wood to replace it too. I have 2 pieces of white oak which im going to glue / epoxy together , then plane / cut to finish.

alllls i need to know is what do i use to stick the pieces together? ive herd glue, and epoxy, and then water proofing it with epoxy / resin or something on the outside all over? just needs to be UV proof / water proof. id prefer to keep the wood grain look but if the better thing to do is paint it with something what ever ill do it.

just need it to last atleast 10 years =P
the engine is a 1978 evinrude 15 hp 2 stroke (which if anyone knows where i can buy a new cowl cover gasket let me know aswell, i look and found one for 60$ lol

the boats a 1959 alumacraft fd btw almost completed.. ill post the whole restoration onhere when its done

Scott, if that's supposed to be a link to that home brew sealer, it's not working.

thank you all for the replys, im going to use the tite bond 3 to glue em then i can worry about the other thing after they are bonded / cut =P

ohh when i bond the wood together do i cover all the wood or just put a bead and then clamp it together?

EDIT nv ima spread it over the wood so when i clamp it the stuff will seep put the sides!

this stuff is awesome its water proof!

Old Timers Recipe

1 Part Boiled Linseed Oil, 2 Parts Mineral Spirits, 1 part Spar Varnish. Apply to wood and let set for a while until it's all soaked in and then apply again. Do this until the wood will no longer absorb. Wipe off and let dry for 48 hours. Finally apply 2-3 Full Strength coats of Spar Varnish. Hope this helps

If you want it to look like a piece of fine furniture sand with the light grade of Bulldog "Steel Wool" between coats of Spar varnish and wipe when dry with a tack rag. I apply up to 7 coats of Spar every 24 hours or until I don't have any left.
