aluminum outdrive pitting - duraglas?

All - I have a Volvo Duoprop outdrive that is pitting quite a bit. I actually sanded it down last year to metal, prepped the surface, and painted it with Volvo outdrive paint. I guess I thought the outdrive paint had anti-fouling properties, but I'm not sure I believe that anymore. When I took the drive out of the water, there was growth everywhere (keep it in Long Island Sound for about 6 months of the year), and the barnacles pulled off some top coat, and even roughed up some of the primer. Anyways, this is leading me to address the same problem again this season.

I currently have the drive sanded down to the aluminum in some places, and there's still some well coated primer areas in other places. I want to patch some of the holes, and am considering using Duraglas for that. Is there any reason I should not use this product for this application? It says it's good for metals/aluminum, and it's waterproof. I was looking into a product like Interlux watertite epoxy, or petit aluma protect, or even a jb weld or marine tex. I'm not sure I'm understanding the difference in all the product or being able to decide which is my best option. I have the duraglas, which is why I'm considering that, and posting today.

If I were to use this, my understanding is that i'll prep the drive with Alumiprep/Alodine to prep the surface. Then I'll prime the whole drive. I'll apply the duraglas to the pits (over the primer), and then sand it down, and then prep/prime again. After that, I'm considering a very generic top coat (as opposed to the Volvo spray I used last time) and an ablative on the top of it all (Petit Hydrocoat ECO).

Am I making a mistake anywhere? I'm mostly asking about the duraglas, but I'm open to advice/thoughts on any step in the process. Is the duraglas (or any epoxy) application over the first coat of primer the correct route? Any concerns if I use a generic topcoat if the ablative is planned to go over that? I talked to a Petit rep about the hydrocoat on the outdrive, so I feel pretty confident with that decision. I've seen good reviews online there too, but willing to listen to anyone on that step as well. Thanks for any help!

I replace them every year... they get pretty chewed up by the end of the season (but there is always SOME anode left on there), so I think I'm in some spicy water where I am. I think some of this pitting may be from before I owned the drive, but I'm just trying to limit further issues.
