Just purchased this boat as a project for me and my two boys. I know really nothing about boating. Was just curious if any one might have an idea of the type of boat this is, especially who the manufacturer might be.
Its just like buying a car. The title and/or registration papers will provide the name of the manufacturer. Sometimes it may be abbreviated. If that is the case, tell us what it says and someone will know the full name.
If the boat was made after 1972, the hull number on the starboard side of the transom will show who made it.
Possibly a '55 Lund, and someone along the way couldn't find Lowe in their computer system at the DMV, and just assumed it was actually a Lund? I've found all kinds of goofy stuff listed on titles/registrations over the years for Make/Model info...
on the inside of a boat i have purchased i found a metal plate with the numbers 45-9171-P. I cannot find this as a HIN. Any suggestions at to what it may be?
i know this is probably a futile quest but i have purchased a 14” aluminum utility. The previous owner said it was a 1955 Lowe. They didn’t manufacture then. It’s been painted over but seems like the original paint was green and orange. As far as i found it has no HIN, but i did find a plate with 45-9171-P. Here’s some pics. Anyone got any ideas on the model? Would just like to know when i start to restore. Also the benches are wood if that helps.
We can re-title the thread to a more appropriate resto title if you want. This will tickle the curious to offer advice on the project instead of digging for model information.
