Aluminum stringers?

I have access to a metal shop that can break some stringers for me out of aluminum for a really good price.

I'm wondering though if 1/8" thick aluminum will be thick enough? Also what would the best way to attach them be?

That's gunna be the main problem. Trying to adhere fiberglass to aluminum is NOT the easiest thing to do. For sure I'd want to use Epoxy and multiple layers of a light weight fabric.

The strength and therefor the thickness required depends a lot upon the exact type of aluminum and how it's been tempered. My Starcraft has stringers only half that thickness, but they are not soft and have stood up well for 40+ years. - Grandad
