Woke up this morning to a malfunctioning meat grinder in the kitchen. My dad was grinding some 40lbs of pork butt to use in some brats. This got me to thinking about stuff that we make homemade in our house. We even have a big cast iron meat stuffer which has to be at least 100 years old.

1.Brats, Italians, Kilbasa, breakfast sausage ( all of which we mix venison in from time to time.)

2.Christmas sausage or itskinitche- rice liver sasuage

3.Blood sausage (same as above plus blood)

4.Wine (We have a grapevine in our backyard and we have 2 20 gallon jugs in the basement that need to be bottled.)

5. Recently starting making homemade beer

6. Homemade cranberry liquor

Can I come to your house for dinner? :D I'll bring my own homemade beer and honey mead wine. Making your own anything is the best way to go. IMHO.

No time for all that home made stuff. I'm lucky if i get around to the homemade wine once a year.
After all, God invented 7/11's for a reason i guess. :)

Yes, you are old fashioned and my hat's off to you for being so.

I find very few redeeming qualities in todays society.

Kids can't tie shoes. Don't have to, it's either velcro or leave em' untied, like the rappers.

Nobody tucks in their shirts anymore.

Looking sharp and well groomed is NOT hip.

I am the same way. If I can't make it I don't need it. Just started another 5 gallon batch of beer. :)

For my next trick, I think I'm gonna build myself a new house. :D

I replaced the front wheel bearings on my redneck '99 F150 this morning. Got 117k out of them without a repack. Skating on thin ice as they were ready. Unreal how little OEM grease is in there.

Re: Am I old-fashioned

hmmm Ron, I have to do some digging around for wine recipes. Don;t know them off the top of my head.......it has to be pretty exact with certain ingredients.

Some things you will need that I can think of right now are some big big jugs to let the wine sit in as it ages, bottles, corks, a corking device, a big funnel, strainers or filters, and a lot of things i cant think of.

old files ground for wood lathe tooling werk great. gasoline is the best parts washer solvent (do not smoke). used oil will kill any and all vegitation forever.
