Hey guys just a quick question. I have a 1972 125 johnson. It goes like stink, but rescently when I hit the throttle it seems to stuttor and not reach it's full speed. It will momentarily jerk and really take off but then it will slow down a bit and keep stuttoring until I put the throttle about half way then it's ok. It was running fine about 2 weeks ago at the lake. Could this be from running to rich, carb's, fuel filter? I don't really know where to start looking. thanks alot.

I would first check for an air leak in the fuel lines.

If lines are old and brittle and hard I would change it. Check all clamps for good tight fit.

If not an air leak then I would next suspect dirty carbs. Clean real good with carb cleaner. Clear all passages with compressed air.

Install new kits and check float settings.

If this does not fix problem then I would check for good spark.

Good Luck!

Hi, check the filter for obstructons, if you want to see if the pump is working disconnect the fuel line that goes from one carb to the other, disconnect it from the carb that your main fuel line goes to and crank the motor, DONT STAND IN THE WAY OF IT!

Check to see if yout plugs are fouled also.

Mike :)
