I have a 1989 vision 180 bass boat with an Evenrude 175. When I bought the boat there was a hot wire and three ground wires connected to the trolling motor batteries which is a 24 volt system. The tachometer and the charging system to the cranking battery were not working.
I took boat to shop and had it checked out to find that the rectifier and tach were bad and had them replaced. When I got the boat back the red wire and the three ground wires were attached to the cranking battery. The tach worked and cranking battery was charging but trolling motor wasn't working. I redirected the red and ground wires back to the trolling motor batteries only to find that my trolling motor batteries were dead upon which I replaced and hooked up the red and ground wires to the new batteries.then the system stopped charging and the tach stopped working. Keep in mind that the trolling motor is 24 volt. Did I fry the new rectifier by hooking those wires (which apparently were from the rectifier) up to the 24 volt trolling motor system. Help please!
