An experienced guy (to Iboats) like you asking a oil question? :D
You should know what could happen asking that question;
Some swear by it, others swear at it.

My stance, if it's rated TCW-3, give it a shot and see what you think. Nobody said you had to use the entire quart. Partial quarts of oil make nice Xmas presents for your boating friends!!! ;)

P.S. Make sure your wrapping paper is oil resistant.

Re: Amalie Oils

Well, to speak with the truth, been a real fan lover of Chevron TCW-3, 2 strokes & gear oils for the past 15 years, went to the store to replenish, ooops no stock available at least October end, so ended buying at Peugeot's Amalie distributor not just one quart, but a full 12 bottle box offered at a excellent price. Yeah, know that as long it's TCW-3 rating it's perfect, probably just a mental brand issue :facepalm:

As long as it is TC-W3 it will do fine, except that some charge you an arm and a leg for advertizing.

None of both 2 strokes oil distributors makes any advertisement whatsoever, but found yesterday that Amalie is better priced than Chevron, at least down here, so probably will stick with Amalie products for 2012 summer.

Re: Amalie Oils

So what is your explanation of why the exact, same oil in bottles with a highly advertized brand label cost so much more than the same oil in a generic (such as Wal Mart SuperTech) label??

What happens in Peru doesn't happen everywhere.

Assume that local engine brands likes to make more proffit selling their oils to new clients that doesn't know that same oils bottled different can be used. We need to stick with Quicksilver, Yamaha oils which costs more compared to Amalie, Chevron, which costs much less. After using 2 strokes Chevron TCW-3 for years have noticed that Chevron is a blue syrup like compared to more liquid green Amalie, both performs right.
