I recently purchased a 20 foot center console american international boat. They were only made in 1986 and 87. I am trying to find some info on these boats and have had no luck in cyberspace. Anyone out there familiar with them?

I tried the USCG Manufacturers Identification Code (MIC) database with "American International" and got ZERO. Do you have a HIN from the bill of sale, registration, title or transom? If so, please post the first three alpha characters and maybe we can chum up some info for you. Good luck!

AIM is the first three on the hull ID. I found the boat in the kelly blue book but that is all I can find on it. Thanks for the help.

Re: American International Boat

I had found the nada values on the boat. But that is all I can find on it. I can not find any other info on this boat. It has no rating plate and I am curious about weight capacity. Recommended Hp and things like this.

Re: American International Boat

Thank you for that last post. I was not aware that boats larger than 20 foot had no max hp rating.

The USCG does not require it for outboard-powered, monohull boats less than 20 feet. However, manufacturers usually do because of product liability. You could use the USCG regs in Section 183.53 to calculate an upper limit for your own purposes from the link below. Just make sure your transom is sound with no rot regardless of what you hang on it. Good luck!

Re: American International Boat

Thank you to everyone for your responses. It is appreciated. Willyclay I noticed that you are from Charleston. I have fished down there a couple times which is my main reason for buying this boat. I fished out of my 18 foot tracker grizzly. It was ideal for the creeks I fished up the wando. It wasn't quite enough for everything though. I really wanted to fish the jetties there but I was scared. Needless to say I am addicted to fishing the salt now so I wanted something more capable of handling it.

It's all about the conditions! I've been scared on more than one occassion. Glad to hear you enjoy the Charleston area. Good luck with your boat.
