I have a Minn Kota AT 40 trolling motor (40 lb. thrust). I've looked all over it and perhaps a label or tag is missing, but I can't find what amperage rating it is. One source said figure approximately 1 amp per pound of thrust, and I'm led to believe that's close.

What size fuse should I go with? I plan to fuse it next to the power source, and the leads appear to be 7 gauge wire (they measure .141 with the insulation stripped away). I would assume I'd need an inline fuse with wires this size or larger.

I've done numerous searches both here and on the internet, but found little but this link that specifically addressed my question (This chart was more of a "run time" than a maximum draw chart):

Your 40# motor has a maximum current draw of about 42 amps (the number comes from the Minnkota catalog). You need a 50 amp breaker.

Thanks. You know, as soon as I posted, something called "Similar Threads" popped up at the bottom of the page, and one thread had just what I was looking for. Out of all the searching I did, I never saw this thread.
