I am moving my batteries on my boat to help balance the wheight , Im using a calculator to find the right size battery cable but I cant find the amperage draw of the starter online.(the boat is in storage atm so I cant just go and look on starter to see if its listed on the side) I am only moving the batteries up @ 7 feet from the back of the boat to under the port side seats. After spending a few hours looking with no results I decided to go ahead and post here.

Outboard is Mercury inline 6 S/N 5168964 it is the distributor type ignition

thanks in advance for any info that will help me out

6ga should be fine. Use 4ga if you're motor cranks hard or takes a while to get started. Anything bigger and it get's imposible to route around under the motor cover. You could run bigger wire if you put in terminal blocks between the motor and the new battery location. They run about 80.00 each and probably aren't going to gain you anything.
